Voices

This is not really speaking
No transfer of ideas or feelings
Everybody has ears but like they say
Very few actually hear beyond
The surface of what they can take
Because every word is a boulder
And these shoulders can only bear
So much we leave behind
And you'll find that hoarse little voice
The eloquent word erodes
You must be the your own wind
Carrying these thoughts beyond the trees of
People we meet and we forget idly
We must burn our own flame
Willing to sacrifice the wax that suffocates
And feel the heat in the blue
Skies beyond which are so many more
Worthy a journey, so do not be afraid
Take the journey to success and tell us all
About the ride in the afterlife

Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they Istaqamu , on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!
Surah Fussilat

O you who believe! why do you say that which you do not act? It is most hateful in the sight of Allah that you say that which you do not act.
61:2-3

  1. So much useless talk nowadays when we have been blessed with the gift of eloquence, the ability to stir hearts in the right direction by the grace of our Lord by saying a kind word, by spreading the message of truth, by making every movement of our lips matter....
Dear sister, I love how your poetry seems to convey different shades of meaning depending on the reader, but which all point to one essentially beautiful message of reminder.

    1. Jazakallahu khairun...
You have reminded me of a question I was meaning to ask - would it be beneficial to write an explanation of what I'm writing. I always get the feeling that I'm writing and writing and writing and nobody has a clue what I'm on about?!

    2. I personally think it's intriguing how one is compelled to ponder over your poetry and somehow find the meaning as well as themselves within the meaning. The Quranic verses and hadith are also a wonderful supplement. Perhaps an explaination could be added to the entries I have assumed to be more personal, but again in my opinion their mystery just adds to the beauty of your collection. :)

    3. Jazakallah Khairun again my beloved sis.
Having read your comment I think I will add explanations upon request to posts.
PS I try to be open with the more personal ones so that people can find a reminder in my life and so that I can unwind but at the same time I am trying not reveal peoples faults- it is hard balance to strike.
